Provost Task Force for Student Mental Health

Goal 2

What is it?

In the Spring of 2019, the Office of the Provost gathered a task force to manage student mental health in response to the growing national trend in higher education of student self-reporting mental health issues and using mental health services.

What goal(s) does it connect to?

Goal 2: Academic, Professional, and Social Integration

  • Goal 2.1: Academic and Professional Excellence
  • Goal 2.4: Improved mentoring

Why is it important?

Mental Health Issues have a history of being taboo in our day-to-day interactions, so for members of the university community to succeed and achieve their goals they need to have easily-accessible resources, as well as know that resources exist on campus. Additionally, the task force is building off work undertaken by Annette Gordon-Reed who lead the Harvard University Review Committee, and this working group is very diverse creating a “real heterogeneity of voices.”
